The NBA Basketball Players Association joins the 3rd annual EPIC Congress in Mataró (Barcelona)

The NBPA will be at the third EPIC (ELPA Performance International Congress) in Mataró. The Chief Medical Officer of the NBPA, Dr. Asheesh Bedi, will deliver a presentation titled, “Athlete Workload.” Dr. Bedi will focus on how workloads are designed and planned, and the work being done to ensure appropriate player health and safety.

Dr. Bedi is also the Director of Sports Medicine and Joint Preservation at the NorthShore Orthopedic and Spine Institute, and a professor at the University of Chicago.  His presence in Mataró will be complemented by representatives from other top-tier international sports institutions, including:

  • Ignacio Muro, Head of Medical Services for the Euroleague
  • Toni Caparrós, former trainer for Pau and Marc Gasol, the Spanish national team, and F.C. Barcelona
  • Ugur Dilicikik, Head of Medical Services for Efes Istanbul

As a one-day event, the EPIC Congress will also host other prestigious nutritionists, physiotherapists, psychologists, and recovery specialists. This event will be supported by the Catalan Basketball Federation, F.C. Barcelona, the Spanish Basketball Doctors Association, and the Catalan Coaches Association.
