ELPA is proud to announce a partnership with the Johan Cruyff Institute, a global leader in sports management education. This collaboration aims to create enhanced academic opportunities for EuroLeague players, providing them with access to world-class educational programs designed to prepare professional athletes for successful careers after sports.
These programs will focus on areas such as sports management, leadership, marketing, and business in the sports industry. Through this partnership, ELPA members will gain access to flexible, high-quality education while continuing their professional basketball careers.
Both organizations are united in their vision of empowering athletes by equipping them with the knowledge and skills they need to transition smoothly from their athletic careers into leadership roles in the sports industry and beyond.
“The collaboration agreement between the EuroLeague Players Association (ELPA) and Johan Cruyff Institute represents a significant step forward in our academic initiatives. With a strong background in training basketball players, we are committed to continuing to support their personal growth and academic success, even as they advance in their professional basketball careers,” – Victor Jordán, Academic Director of Johan Cruyff Institute.
“Johan Cruyff institute has a proven track record of helping athletes reach their academic goals. The collaboration between ELPA and the Johan Cruyff Institute is therefore an alliance that represents an evolution in academic opportunities ELPA offers to its members. By working together, we aim to amplify the environment that supports players’ personal growth and academic success, while they are still professional basketball players”, – Bostjan Nachbar, ELPA Managing Director.
The collaboration with Johan Cruyff Institute, which marks third such agreement between ELPA and an academic institution (joining ISDE and ITTI Sports Institute) is part of ELPA’s Second Career Program, led by Beatriz Roca. The program helps players identify their academic potential, steers them towards most suitable path for their academic goals, and prepares them for life outside of professional basketball. In last two seasons alone, seven active EuroLeague players obtained Masters Degrees in Sports Management.
