Many players attended our “Key recovery strategies” webinar focused on recovery. The goal of the online webinar was to give advices and tips to players on good sleeping.
Between practices, games and travel, which can be long, the EuroLeague calendar can be heavy and players need to make the most of every moment of rest. A lot of them may have difficulty recovering, especially when games end late, for example.
The course was led by Full professor in Sports Training at The University of the Basque Country and Master in High Performance Sports by the Spanish Olympic Committee Julio Calleja-Gonzalez, member of ELPA’s Performance Advisory Board, who provided various insights on how to go sleep more after games, how to recover better when being at home and what to do in general to perform on the top level.
Retin Obasohan was one of the attendees: “The webinar was extremely helpful, it established without reasonable doubt that recovery is truly specific & personal to each person. And in order to optimize it, I have to do research into myself, my physiology, habits, diet and even more. That helped a lot, because I’ve been able to already make adjustments to practices that suit me better. The scientific backing and open floor to as questions was something I valued and benefitted from a lot. And I look forward to joining on more topics in the future.”
Beno Udrih honored us by being our special guest. The former EuroLeague player and 2 times NBA champion was always focused on recovery during his playing career and shared his valuable experience to the participants.
“We continue organizing educational projects for our members who want to learn more about topics that help them in their basketball careers and recovery is surely one of the biggest. It is also a very broad one so this time we have focused in sleep and I am very glad players saw this topic as very interesting. I would like to thank one of the biggest expert in recovery around the world and precious member of ELPA Performance Advisory Board Julio Calleja Gonzalez and Francesco Cuzzolin who has as always been big support and added his great knowledge from working with top athletes around the world. Special thanks go to our special guest – 2 times NBA champion Beno Udrih who shared his experience on recovery from his playing career and added big value to the webinar.” – Anze Blazic, Operations Manager.
