On May 23 & 24, EuroLeague Players Association leaders participated at the inaugural #Right2Organize conference. This special event, organized by World Players Association, was held at the FIFPro House in Amsterdam. It gathered 70+ players association representatives and experts from different parts of the world. Besides powerful discussions and interesting workshops, one of the major goals of the event was to learn from each other and to make unions stronger and more effective. Congress included inspiring speeches by Brendan Schwab (WPA), Tony Clark (MLBPA), DeMaurice Smith (NFLPA), Natalia Orive Siviter (AJFSF) and Ahmad Nassar (PTPAplayers), just to name a few.

ELPA Secretary General Alex Engelhard: “It was a tremendous privilege for us to be part of the #Right2Organize conference. We have started ELPA journey five years ago and there is still a lot to learn from those who have fought for players’ rights for decades. We thank the organizers for putting up such an incredibly enriching program with inspiring presentations.”

ELPA Managing Director Bostjan Nachbar: “The conference was a unique opportunity to meet leaders of different sports unions. I would especially like to thank former WPA Executive Director Brendan Schwab for inviting us to be here, and FIFPro General Secretary Jonas Bear Hoffmann for hosting such a remarkable event. We look forward to use this momentum and collaborate with people we met during the event.”

The World Players Association is the leading voice of organized players in the governance of world sport. It brings together 85,000 players across professional sport through more than 100 player associations in over 60 countries. With the event such as the #Right2Organize conference, WPA is changing the global conversation about sports unions to harness the power of the collective for effective athlete representation.
