ELPA was pleased to be represented at the ABA International Labor and Employment Law Committee meeting in Prague, where ELPA legal counsel Luka Milanović joined a panel dedicated to sports law and international labour relations.
The discussion covered the particularities of employment contracts in professional sport, the differences between the U.S. and European models, collective bargaining, and the evolving regulatory landscape of international sport.
Luka presented the role of ELPA and the significance of the EuroLeague Framework Agreement concluded with Euroleague Basketball — highlighting the importance of harmonized player protections and collective representation in European basketball.
The panel also explored the growing globalization of the game, including the potential entry of the NBA into the European basketball club market and its possible impact on the structure of basketball in Europe.
